The food here is really good! I always order the schnitzel with resin cheese and have never looked back. The service is polite and quick. I personally like it a lot!

Excellent service and very friendly staff

The food was very tasty. There were four of us with 2 children. There was even a children's menu and they were very child-friendly. They also catered to extra requests such as mashed potatoes for the youngest, so it is best to reserve in advance. Service was okay. The waiting time for dinner is a bit long. Unfortunately there was no food for the waiting time that might be appropriate for 45 minutes. Otherwise quite full and that during Corona times. Ventilating once would perhaps have been appropriate. That's why I deducted one point. The tables were all disinfected as a precaution.

Even though we didn't have a reservation and it was quite busy, we got a table for 5. The service was very busy, but very friendly. Great selection and affordable prices, there was something for everyone. It was worth a good tip and we are happy to recommend it.

Food tasted good. Lots of choice, also exotic, for whom potatoes sound too boring ;-) Staff was nice and accommodating. Ambience good. Highly recommended.

Visually very nice restaurant. Houses, trees etc. are built inside. This makes the potato house look rustic and cozy. Overall very well attended at peak times, so reserve in advance. All in all you can clearly see the stress of the staff in my opinion. The staff is still quite nice, but also curt. There were waiting times especially after eating, if you want to have a drink, etc. The menu is quite large and quite meat-heavy. In terms of taste, the food and the prices are okay. Unfortunately, after the visit, the clothes clearly smell of food.

Despite the good occupancy, we still got a place, so better reserve in advance. The service was very friendly and brisk. The food was delicious and plentiful. We had aspic with fried potatoes, a farmer's breakfast and Potato house plate. We would definitely recommend the restaurant.

We were there last night for two at short notice. We were lucky to get a seat, but it is better to reserve a table because it is very busy. We sat outside - very comfortable, staff very friendly. We were also advised that due to the large number of guests, it may take a while before we can eat. But it was worth the wait! My husband had schnitzel with porcini mushrooms and fried potatoes. I've been a vegetarian for a long time and there was a good selection on the menu, not just baked potatoes with salad .. The baked potato 'Lukullus' can even be prepared vegan :-). I had this jacket potato, but with potato cream (sour cream) and fried vegetables. It was NOT a ready-made vegetable and tasted very tasty! Will come back again. Prices are reasonable and by no means overpriced! Despite the high workload, the waitresses remained friendly! Gladly again!

If you are in a "potato house", I think you can expect at least the potatoes to be well prepared. Unfortunately, the fried potatoes weren't browned at all and were very fatty. The knuckle was absolutely not crispy, it was like chewing gum. To make matters worse, we were initially allowed to wait 15 minutes until the order was taken and the meal was then another 30 minutes in coming.

Price / performance is great. The waitresses are all super nice, friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. You should definitely make a reservation beforehand, because it could otherwise happen that you have to wait until a table becomes free. But it was really very good there. Gladly again! 👍🏼

Today we were in the potato house for the first time. The reception was very warm and friendly. The table was very nicely set for the birthday. The drinks came very quickly. All of the food came very quickly. Everything was freshly prepared and most importantly, the food was hot. The service was very attentive. We were in good hands from start to finish. The "Dreckskarren" (in the back of the picture) and the schnitzel a la potato house (in the front of the picture) were roughly very tasty. The price-performance ratio is all right! The meat of the dirt cart was a bit dry and the fried potatoes were more cooked than fried. (-0.5 stars) With the schnitzel, I would have liked the cheese to have really melted. In the picture you can still see the individual panes that were placed on top. Leave in the oven for 5 minutes longer. (-0.5 stars) The quantity and quality is great for the price. The waiters were also very attentive and friendly. It took 30 minutes from ordering until the food arrived, which was very good because the house wasn't exactly empty. If you want to dine here, you should reserve 1 or 2 days in advance. A very good place!

Extremely short waiting times indicate little freshness and sometimes only produce lukewarm dishes. Mediocre restaurant which stands for quantity rather than quality. The ambience fits the category and is friendly and appropriate. The bottom line is that there is much better in Wernigerode, for example right next to it.

Super restaurant, nice atmosphere and very nice staff! Food is totally ok for the price. There are also many good dishes for children. It is best to make a reservation as the restaurant is well attended 👍

We were satisfied and full. The price-performance ratio fits. Despite the well-stocked restaurant, we only had to wait about 30 minutes for the food, but the next table probably an hour. There's a deduction for the potato pancakes - they shouldn't be frozen in a potato house! The waitresses were all very nice!

Large portions but we found hair in all of our meals, and the normal and sweet potato fries that we were looking forward to tasted exactly like the ones you get frozen from Rewe. That was quite shocking, especially since I expected them to at least be home made at a Kartoffelhaus. The food was ok but considering our experience, we would not have paid the prices on the menu for what we received.

Not good

Been coming here for evening meal every February for a week. We come back the following year and welcomed like old friends, they also remember our drink order. Menu in English. Good variety of meals, as long as you like potatoes with it.!

One can only recommend. Moderate prices and a good selection of dishes. It tasted very good. Perfect for a refreshment during a visit to Wernigerode. Directly in front of the door also holds the Tollerbahn to the castle.

We reserved a table..when we come we didn't feel very wellcome .The food was mediocre...so my 2stars it's only because I think the restaurant was cozy.

We have been to Wernigerode 9 times and always eat here every night, great staff, great food , great place all round

Great food, delivered quickly and with a smile. The high rating is given because the sum total of our experience was exactly what we needed when we visited as an extended family with young children. This is not where you find michelin style food. Relatively simple, tasted great, very reasonable prices and very friendly and attentive staff.

Real German food cooked perfectly

Amazing food.. Great ambiance. This is always a must go place when I am in Wernigerode. You just can't go wrong with the Venison Gulash or the Lamb. Their Kartoffelsuppe is some of the best in the city in a city full of great varieties of this Harz Mountains staple. I cannot recommend this place enough.

The decoration was great, and gave it a good atmosphere. The food came in good portions for a good prize, and it tasted great. The service was extraordinary.

Good food, but a little on the pricey side. I enjoyed my meal but our friend had to send his back because it was under cooked​. Great place for large groups but make reservations.

A cosy, traditional restaurant in a beautiful location. The service was good and there was a relatively large selection of food. As it's traditional German, there's hardly anything for vegans, it is potato meat and cheese heavy. Quality of food is good, the portions were slightly too large though so no starters and desserts are needed. Prices are fine, average main dish is 10€
